Hello all! I know it been a while since the last blog post. Months... I want to start becoming more active by writing weekly posts on here but also updating my book Instagram, which you can find @read.yreader. However, I am quite busy during the week with school and other activities, but I am going to try and make time. Now onto the book review!
I currently run the book club at my school. Each month we pick a new book and meet about 2 times a month to discuss it. Once finished, we do an activity related to that book. An example is when we finished reading Once Upon a Broken Heart by Stephanie Garber. It is a really amazing book, so go check it out! I am sure you will fall in love with Jacks. Anyway, once we finished reading the book we made paper apples and my advisor, and I brought in apple themed snacks. If you did not know apples are a big thing for Jacks.
One of the last books we did was Sisters of Sword and Song by Rebecca Ross. You may know her from the Divine Rivals series, which has become incredibly popular in the past few years. Although she is mainly known for that series, she has a bunch of really good standalone novels. I really suggest you check them out! After reading Sisters of Sword and Song, I started reading some of her other books and basically got hooked. They are all so underrated!

Sisters of Sword and Song is about...
Two sisters
Halcyon goes into the army
returns charged with murder
Eva takes some her sentence
sent to work for the man's family that her sister murdered
Both women begin to see that things are not always how they seem

I went into reading this book pretty skeptical. I usually love books with a lot of action and romance, and I did not believe that this book would bring it. However, I was presently surprised. Don't get me wrong, it in no way has as much action as Forth Wing or as romance as ACOTAR, but it was still very good. It was very simple but had all the makings of a good story. There was romance, plots twist I never saw coming and is set in a fantasy kingdom with magic elements and mages. It was almost like a palette cleaner but book version. This is definitely a book I would recommend if you were in-between books and just want a simple, feel-good story.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars!
I am definitely going to read more Rebecca Ross standalones!
I know this post is pretty short, but I just wanted to get something out as I haven't written anything in a while. Most posts from now on will most likely be this length because they take much less time to write than the longer ones.
In the comments, suggest posts for the Instagram! I have no idea what to post. Also, would you guys enjoy seeing snip- bits of the novel I am writing? Write it in the comments!
Happy Reading,
KC
