Powerless: Book Review!!

Paedyn Gray is a Ordinary living among Elites, a fish living among sharks. She has to watch her every move as she tries to survive the slums of Ilya, while keeping her knowledge of being an Ordinary a secret, otherwise there will be dire consequences.

Unknowably, Paedyn saves a prince of Ilya, Kai Azer. She becomes a hero and is picked as one of the competitors for the Purging Trials, a cruel competition to show the Elite’s power.

Paedyn will have to work her hardest in order to survive against the cut- throat Elites, while keeping her biggest secret out of danger. What she didn’t expect was her unneeded feelings for the prince. If he discovers who she is well….. it may not go so well.

Powerless was not what I was expecting at all…

Powerless is a definite MUST read!!🙌🙌🙌

Powerless was amazing!! I will not stop raving about this book! It has it all; banter, tension, chemistry, plot, conflict, world building, etc., etc. If you are looking for an on the edge of your seat book that is not too complicated but still incredibly interesting, Powerless is for you!

One thing that quickly disinterests me from a book is it being too complicated. Whether that be through the characters, plot or world-building, if I don’t understand pretty quickly, I get bored. Similar to this , if the book is too slow in the beginning I get bored. Let’s just say I have a short attention span. Additionally, I am pretty busy, meaning when I sit down to read a book, I want to be totally engrossed it in. I don’t want to be wasting my time with an just okay book. I want to be blown away. Of course, a lot of the books you think are going to be a five✨ read, actually turn out to not be which can be really disappointing. That’s why I am very careful with the books I read, because I want to read something that I am going to love.

This is why Powerless is so good and I will always recommend. It is sort of slow in the beginning but was still interesting enough that I wanted to keep reading. When I got to the climax/ the good part.. Ooo was it good!!😲😉 I wanted to keep reading and never put it down. It was attention grabbing and engrossing, while not being too complicated. As said above, I am picky about books, but this is the book that now sets the standards for all the other romantasy books I read!

Powerless is one of my favorite books because of these exact reasons.

• Not a complicated world

• Not complicated characters; interesting and relatable characters

• Considered YA

• The BANTER, TENSION… chefs kiss💋👌

• Not boring; will make you WANT to keep reading

• Throughout; makes sense

Let me explain..

Powerless by Lauren Roberts is a well throughout book. The world in which the characters live in makes sense and is interesting but not too complicated to understand. The power in which the Elites carry is not too difficult to understand either. I caught on very quickly. I was surprised that the MCs did not kiss, but that does not mean it was not romantic. The banter between the characters and the palpable tension was to die for!🤭

I saw Kai and Pae as very relatable characters because although they are different, I related to them both very much. Pae is alone with only Adena to lean and is forced to keep her difference a secret. Kai on the other hand, has a lot to live up to and is under a lot of pressure. There is always a lot of pressure on me to do well, I want to make my family proud, along with myself. Society hurts those that chose to be different, all our lives we fight to fit in and be apart of the “group.” We try to hide how we are different, even though we are powerful and strong even if we are different as shown in Pae. Relating to characters really helps me to love a book because it helps me feel like I can take something away from the story and add it into my life. I’m sure it is like that for a lot of you too.

My only critique is that maybe it was a little slow in the beginning. Pae is also very stubborn so half the time I was Pae just… Ugh!! Kai is basically in love you just give in already and stop teasing! you know you want to!!✨

But the ENDING!!! I don’t cry during books, but THAT! That almost made me cry!😥😥

Please go read Powerless by Laruen Roberts!! Fans of Fourth Wing will definitely love it even though it was YA!!
